INFORMATION

Near Plaza Morales there is a spectacular house painted with a maroon color façade and with a peculiar decoration, since it is almost entirely covered with seashells, including the curious battlements in the corners. To access the interior, you can see an original knocker made up of several cowbells of different sizes. Its owner proudly shows us the fruit of many years of work. "It all started with a personal project. Many people have come to see my house, from all over the country. From Barcelona, Málaga, Almería... Everything here, especially the mushrooms, attracts their attention». "Mushrooms" are a kind of flowerpot made of cement and completed with stone flowers. Later on he begins a long list of the utensils that he has been gathering and that, in many cases, have been given to him by his neighbors who are familiar with his hobby. It begins with the tools of the resin tappers, a bed from the Vietnam War, various Roman ploughs, different types of threshing machines, scales and Roman scales. A 'uvio' (yoke), a possibly Roman font and several heads carved in stone, complete the list before indicating that the heads are now made of pine or walnut wood.

Not surprisingly, he has had to search on the beaches of Motril for the more than two million shells that he alternates with the fossils he has found in the surroundings of Las Albuñuelas. For this reason, this singular place is known in the region as 'the House of Shells'.
