Mondújar is located in the southwestern slope of Sierra Nevada, at 738 m. of altitude. The town has 600 inhabitants mainly dedicated to the cultivation of olive, almond and sour trees. The locals are distributed between the Church district, older, and the new neighborhood, next to the old national road, a few meters from Talará. It is 5 km from Dúrcal and 30 km from Granada.

Castle of Zoraya in Mondujar

This castle was owned by Muley Hacen. He had it built as a wedding present for Zoraya (Isabel de Solís). Nearby, in the old Mondújar cemetery, it is believed that the royal Nasrid cemetery was located. Other cemeteries have recently been discovered in the vicinity, during the construction of the highway and a housing estate.
The castle follows the Nasrid scheme from the mid-14th century. According to the book by J. María S. Osuna, the plan of the castle was structured in a disorderly and capricious way (irregular polygon) to adapt to the terrain.
There are the remains of a large cistern with interior dimensions of 7.50 x 4.80 meters, built with lime concrete walls that preserve the plaster and the remains of red almagra. It was covered with a masonry vault of which some remains can be seen, especially in its northeast corner, where its intersection can be observed with another small pointed vault that covered the passage through which, from inside the fortress. The cistern was accessed to catch the water as a horizontal curb.

Mondujar Oil Mill

The Mondújar Mill is one of the jewels of our region, which still survives to show us the level of technological engineering in the transformation of oil of these past centuries

It has been restored in 2005 and opened its doors in 2006 to become a museum mill, which apart from showing the specific devices of oil, will house in its premises a series of exhibitions of different topics that will change throughout the year.

It is one of the two "tower mills" that exist in the region next to the Acequias mill, but with the difference that this one has been totally restored

Church of the Encarnacion

This church is covered in its entire surface by a Mudejar armor with Mohammedan files, with starred musket and six cross braces. There is also a small choir mounted on the entrance gate. Outside it alternates ashlar and brick and it has two entrances (one at the foot of the church and the other one on the wall of the Epistle) with semicircular openings, curved pediments and Baroque ornaments. The bell tower is rectangular in plan and it has three embedded bodies, a four-sided roof and double bays on alfiz on each of the faces of the upper body, but not on the two lower ones, which only have a rectangular bay on the front foot, with geometric panels on the sides. The basement of the tower houses the baptismal chapel, vaulted with a semicircular arch in its access from the nave of the church.
