    Lanjaron Castle

    This castle sits on an isolated rocky promontory below the present town of Lanjaron.

Lanjaron Castle

To the south there is a steep valley through which the Lanjarón river flows. The castle is located at an altitude of 660 meters and controlled access to Sierra Nevada, as well as attacks from the Lecrin Valley and the coastal area.
The remains that are preserved are abundant, although in the field work it has been possible to observe that although the castle is of Arab construction, it has later been reused by Christian troops, leaving evident remains of its subsequent restoration to adapt it to new defensive needs.
