What to do

DESCRIPTION

Valle de Lecrín, located half an hour south of Granada. The valley enjoys a Mediterranean climate all year round with sunshine, lots of sunshine. The orange, lemon, olive and almond trees offer an explosion of colour throughout the year. In spring the valley is impregnated with the aroma of orange blossom, in winter it is filled with pink and white with the flowers of the almond trees. You can pick an orange directly from the tree, during a pleasant walk through the many orange groves that surround the small white villages.

We are located between the ski resort of Sierra Nevada and the beaches of the Costa Tropical. Nearby you will also find golf courses, where you can practice your favorite sport, or other outdoor activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, bird watching, or various air activities. The waters of the Mediterranean are ideal for scuba diving, surfing, renting a canoe or sailing in its waters.

For those who prefer to stay on land, the city of Granada offers a lot of culture and history that you can discover in its museums, its monuments, and above all the world famous Alhambra Palace.

What to do in the Lecrin Valley?
Hiking: Route of the Orange Blossom (Melegís-Saleres). The route has a distance of 9 kilometers and a duration of 3 hours, approximately. Its difficulty is low and it is composed of 6 sections that run, basically, through the agricultural roads of the municipality.

It is a market created with the objective that the farmers and craftsmen of the region can sell their products directly to the visitors without necessity to pass by intermediaries. In the market you can find fruits, vegetables, homemade sweets or crafts.
Cultural visits in Melegís, Restábal and Saleres all year round. You can visit the Church of Melegís, declared a monument of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Culture of the Andalusian Government. Also interesting are the Emblazoned Houses of Melegís, the Laundry, the urban physiognomy of the town of Saleres, with its narrow streets and whitewashed houses; or the Hill's Hermitage in Restábal.
Gastronomic Week of Citrus and Cod in the restaurants of El Valle in the three restaurants of El Valle (Puerta del Valle, La Despensa and Los Naranjos), during the week that the Citrus Fair lasts. The restaurants offer their customers special dishes where the great protagonists are the cod and citrus fruits. An explosion of flavour for the palate.

Ascent to the Santo Cristo del Zapato in Pinos del Valle. The place that we propose offers unbeatable views of the whole region of the Lecrín Valley. From the different villages you can contemplate a cross in one of the vertex of the mountain that crowns Pinos del Valle that is almost impossible to avoid. To raise here is a beautiful stroll surrounded by pine groves that hardly offers resistance for any stroller. The climb starts from the village itself. It is accessed through Barrio de Arriba along a path that leads to Restábal, but which must soon be abandoned. The old washhouses, now restored, are located at the beginning of the climb and next to the Talará-Los Guájares road. The path winds through pine woods, but the climb is not very steep. The town hall always keeps it quite clean and well cared for. It usually takes from half an hour to three quarters of an hour to climb it quietly. It is easily accessible for all ages.

Weekly market (Tuesday) in Pinos del Valle. Several stalls are placed in the streets of the village for display and sale of their products.
