DESCRIPTION


Municipality of the province of Granada formed by the towns of Acequias, Béznar, Talará, Mondújar, Chite and Murchas. The most important nucleus is formed by Talará and Mondújar. In these towns you can find most of the services. The furthest town from this centre is Béznar, about 4 km away.
The town of Béznar is also located on the south-western slope of Sierra Nevada next to the reservoir of the same name, at an altitude of 536m. It has a population of 510 inhabitants, mainly dedicated to the primary sector, that is, the cultivation of olive, almond and sour trees. It is located 4 km from Talará, 10 km from Dúrcal and 34 km from Granada.
Among the most characteristic landscapes that we can discover when arriving at this locality, we emphasized: the stamp of the town nailed in a forest of orange and lemon trees with the dam to the bottom, seen from the national highway. The valley of the Ízbor river with the dam of the reservoir, 100 m. high, is also of an incredible beauty; as well as the reservoir of Béznar or the narrow gorge of the Tablate ravine.

GASTRONOMY

Another of the tourist attractions of this municipality that brings together 6 towns is the gastronomy, which covers a great repertoire of typical dishes.
The most typical dishes of the town of Acequías , Béznar and Mondújar are: the stew of fennels and the orange soaking.

PARTIES

→ The San Antón festivities (17th January). It is celebrated with a procession of the image of the saint.
→ The patron saint's fiestas of San Antón Abad (second weekend in September). The traditional parade of the Brotherhood of the Musketeers of the Santísimo takes place, escorting the Santísimo Sacramento, dressed in a unique way. It dates back to 1566 as a result of some armed acts during the Moorish uprising, when they managed to rescue the Blessed Sacrament that had been stolen. It is celebrated with processions, street parties and fireworks.

SPORTS

These beautiful towns allow both locals and foreigners to carry out outdoor activities, and thus enjoy both their landscapes and their people.

The inhabitants of Béznar usually practice carp fishing and hunting of ducks, rabbits, partridges and wild goats.

DALA SURI La Mora

Dala Suri la Mora Moorish rebellion. On 26 September 1568, Don Fernando de Córdoba y Válor, now known as Aben Humeya, was crowned in Béznar (Granada) as King of the Moors who had taken up arms against the impositions.
