Peñagallo is a Spanish company specialized in the artisan and traditional production of French fries since 1988, with the best raw materials: carefully selected potatoes (sour variety), 100% sunflower oil and sea salt. It is also dedicated to the production of salted snacks.

Peñagallo is located in Dúrcal, in the Lecrín Valley, in the province of Granada.

The water of the Dúrcal River that falls directly from the Sierra Nevada, the pure air without contamination of the Granada plain and the affection of the farmers give a unique flavour to the potatoes that are grown in this area. Peñagallo is aware of the importance of using local products for its traditional production and therefore selects the best potatoes of the sour variety from Dúrcal and the province of Granada.

Technology and quality
Peñagallo invests in continuous laboratory analysis to ensure its customers the maximum quality of all its products. In addition it uses machinery of packed of last generation in order that every bag of chips preserves his original flavor up to the moment of his consumption.

From Dúrcal, Penyagallo potatoes conquer those who try them. In these 30 years that this company is about to complete, it has been gaining market share. From selling their frying pans to neighbours in the area, they have gone on to send them to Italy, various Central European countries and currently they are opening a new line of business in China.

This family company has specialised in the processing, packaging and distribution of crisps and snacks. It all began in 1989 and since then it has managed to become a leader in the provinces of Granada, Malaga and Almeria as a reference mainly in the HORECA channel, this being its largest market share at present. Since always, and still today, the elaboration of the product is done in a traditional way, the potatoes are fried in a pan. It is from 2010 when, after a strong investment in machinery, Patatas Fritas Peñagallo starts its expansion in the bordering provinces, having distributors in each of them, and being present in the biggest distribution areas of Granada and Almeria, such as Carrefour, Alcampo and Supermercados El Corte Inglés.

In the international section it has a distribution channel in Italy and these days it is preparing the beginning of a new commercial route in China.

Raw material

These potatoes are made with the 'sour' variety, as it is the one best adapted to the frying process due to its high dry matter content. They are all of national origin and a high percentage are of local origin, taking into account the length of the season's harvest. Another fundamental ingredient is the oil, in Peñagallo they use of high oleic sunflower (this type of oil does not leave any trace in the frying and with him the flavors of the potato are appreciated much better) and Extra Virgin Olive Oil for those who prefer a more intense flavor, without losing the essence of the handcrafted potato. And finally, the salty touch is provided by sea salt from the Mar Menor and La Flor de Sal from Cabo de Gata. The benefits of this variety of salt are innumerable in comparison with other types of common salts as it is dried naturally and no additives are added. In addition it is a national product and its proximity reduces considerably the environmental and economic costs. All of them are gluten-free.

Quality

Peñagallo's potatoes can be found in different formats according to the distribution channel but all of them preserve the essence of a French fry made with the best raw materials. In addition to the options of Truffle, Garlic, without salt or with Olive Oil, this company also offers cocktail type snacks, wheels, light potatoes and wheat rind.

In order to guarantee the quality of all its products, they undergo periodic analysis to ensure that the product is always perfectly and properly preserved and that it is of the highest quality. We work continuously with two Granada laboratories and with the Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN-CSIC).

Location

This company has been located in Avenida del Sur de Dúrcal since its beginnings but is currently working on the project of the new facilities in a nearby industrial estate for its relocation. It also has a warehouse in Viator to have a faster presence and better service for the provinces of Murcia and Almeria.
