The Almazara La Erilla Interpretation Center is a Nasrid building built between the 12th and 15th centuries and considered one of the oldest in Spain.
La Erilla Oil Mill-Interpretation Center
It is located 20 minutes from Granada city and 25 minutes from the Costa Tropical, in the beautiful town of Nigüelas, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and on the edge of the river Torrente.
It is the only oil mill that continues to open its doors with more than five centuries of useful life, to show the treasure that is preserved in its facilities and the history of the culture around the olive tree and the oil.
This is its best letter of introduction, which makes it a reference point for olive oil tourism in Granada.
It is currently an Interpretation Center that has one of the best examples of presses called“beam and quintal”, which modernized the lever presses used in the seventh century BC, and whose structure and machinery have been preserved to this day, mainly because it was in operation until 1942 and the commitment of Fundación Zayas with the preservation of its heritage.
