El Pinar – Pinos del Valle

El Pinar is a municipality in the province of Granada.
Located in the southeastern part of the Lecrin Valley.
It is formed by two localities: Pinos del Valle (as the main nucleus) and Ízbor (forming part of the latter the annexed localities of Tablate and Acebuches).
The town of Pinos Del Valle has a strategic position hanging over the Béznar dam, with easy access to the highway.
Located in the shadow of Mount Chinchirina at 705 m altitude, on the top of which stands the chapel of Santo Cristo del Zapato, the town of Pinos del Valle is divided into two distinct nuclei: the Barrio Alto, where the Town Hall is located, and the Barrio Bajo, where the parish is located.
To them we must add the neighborhood of Las Eras, which is the one that enjoys the best views over the reservoir of Béznar and the rest of the region.
This locality has about 1062 inhabitants, distributed among its three neighborhoods: Las Eras, Alto and Bajo.
It has numerous springs that irrigate its fruitful lands.
Among the agricultural resources of this town are olive, almond and citrus trees.
In its two oil mills an olive oil of recognized quality is obtained.
It is located 14 km from Dúrcal and 39 km from Granada
Each of the neighborhoods has its own ancient church.
There is a good bakery near the square in the upper quarter, and a supermarket next to the church.
There is a supermarket on the way to the lower quarter, where there is also a bakery and a pharmacy.
The store next to the church is open on Sundays.
There is a secondary road from Pinos to Motril with excellent views.
The scenery is spectacular, and from the characteristic Moorish tower of Venta de la Cebada we can see the Lecrin Valley and the Mediterranean on the other side.
