An accommodation with history

April 14, 2021

If you want to live an unforgettable experience, we recommend you to visit the region of the Lecrín Valley and more specifically, the town of Padul, where you can stay in an old flour mill from the Arab period.

Today we show you one of the most unique accommodations in the Lecrín Valley.

The Alojamientos Rurales Al Agia, an Arab flour mill converted into a rural complex with a lot of history.

The owners, Paco and Teresa, opened this complex in June 2002 and since then have welcomed guests from all over the world.

The history that surrounds this accommodation means that when a guest books at Los Molinos de Padul a special bond is created between that person and the mill.

Los Molinos de Padul is particularly attractive for its surroundings, gardens, the interior decoration of the houses, the animals in the complex and of course, the history that has made a family-run accommodation become a lodging for thousands of guests from all over the world.

The municipality of Padul was noted for housing several flour mills from the Arab period. The importance of these mills and their nearby location gave their name to the place where they are located, the "Camino de los Molinos".

The three mills in the area were known as Molino Seña Anica, Molino Feliche and Molino Mísqueres.

In order to preserve the history that surrounds the whole area, Paco and Teresa used the name of these 3 old mills as the name of each of the houses in their rural complex.

The history of this family and the mills dates back to 1954 when Paco and Encarna (Paco's parents), decided to buy a flour mill from the Arab period, the Molino Mísqueres.

In addition to being their family home, Paco and Encarna converted this environment into a picnic and leisure area and thus created the popular Los Molinos swimming pool.

Its beautiful surroundings, gardens, rivers and springs, together with a small bar and a swimming pool, made this place a favourite resting place for many families from Paduleña, even from other parts of the province of Granada.

There was not a day in summer when Los Molinos was not full of families, couples and friends to enjoy a refreshing swim, as well as the environment and the atmosphere that was created there.

Years later, with the death of Paco, this space was losing its affluence. However, Encarna, his wife, continued to welcome visitors and friends. This was the best place to enjoy a fresh and pleasant space after a day's work.  Encarna always welcomed them with a glass of fresh water or a glass of wine.

Years later, her son Paco took up the entrepreneurial spirit of the family. In 2002, Paco and his wife Teresa brought a new approach to their parents' legacy.

Through a rehabilitation they created the Rural Accommodation Los Molinos de Padul.

Paco's effort and hard work has meant that this mill is still in operation and he has created the Ethnographic Museum of Los Molinos de Padul. This is how Paco has managed to create an exhibition with the tools, utensils and farming implements most used by our ancestors, a space with a lot of history.

Entrance to the ethnographic museum is free for all guests of the accommodation. Undoubtedly, a visit that will transport you to the beginnings of our history and a place to remember and appreciate the hard work that was done during the labours of the field.

In 2019, Paco and Teresa created a new concept of rural accommodation. Thus was born the accommodation complex Los Miradores and its two landscape houses, Mirador de los Quinientos and Mirador Alto Cijancos.

A different type of accommodation to Los Molinos, where the houses stand out for their impressive panoramic views. But, at the same time, they conserve the essence of rural life and the care for the decorative details in every corner.

This complex of lodgings is called Al Agia, after the name of the land of these two environments.

Los Molinos de Paco are known by all the inhabitants of Padul for being a place that they remember with special affection and where they spent many moments of their childhood. Its small museum brings to life the history and culture of agriculture and livestock farming. And its large green areas immerse you in the enjoyment of nature.

Book at Los Molinos de Padul and stay in an accommodation with more than 100 years of history.
